The idea behind AWA is that by putting creators first, we all benefit. Our tagline says it all: “Where the best creators do their best work, for you.” We think the quality of our original stories backs that up, and our fans, critics, and the industry seem to agree with us.
Our “Creator of the Month” program lets us spotlight a different writer, artist, colorist, letterer or more each month, allowing you to get a glimpse into what makes them tick. (What’s more, you may ask? As you may know, AWA is venturing into film and TV, so you may just see a director or other movie auteur show up on these pages over time, too!)

What is your favorite comic character or fictional character of all time? Why?
Comic Character: Frank Castle. For his shark-like purity. Fictional character might be Lionel Essrog from Motherless Brooklyn.
Who most influenced you in the world of comics?
Garth Ennis. I had a gap in my comic-reading years from when I was younger to when I came back and picked up a Punisher MAX by him. When I read that, I was much more aware of what comics could DO.
Who most influenced you outside of the world of comics?
Shakespeare. I studied his work extensively in college and for a year in England. I think he was a great thriller writer. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/shakespeare-thriller-writ_b_3786223
Do you have a favorite panel/ art from an AWA series you’ve worked on?
Rahzzah’s cover for NewThink #1 is absolutely incredible.
What do you want fans to know about you?
I sometimes use character names from comics when Orphan X (the hero of my fiction series) needs an alias.

What’s your favorite comic book or graphic novel?
Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing run completely blew my mind.

Fly! Being invisible feels creepy-adjacent.

I’d be useful in a group but I’d need survivalists, etc.

No. Can’t listen to words when I’m writing words.

Right now it’s Jennifer Hudson’s version of Hallelujah, sung at the Global Citizens Prize: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgMCm5NWtII
